Sing, Chant and Move to the Beat!

Grades Pre-K - 1st
Students investigate where sound comes from, how it is produced, and how it is heard. They will continue their exploration of sound by looking at musical instruments from around the world, as well as how the human body can be used as a musical instrument. Through songs and movement students will explore rhythm, beat, vibrations and more!

Food For Thought

Grades Pre-K-2nd
Explore Brooklyn’s culinary traditions in one of the Museum’s most popular, hands-on exhibits!
Role-play in World Brooklyn’s International Grocery Store to discover a variety of foods and their origins. Students will learn about nutrition through our interactive lesson. Use your imagination while you create a balanced meal of your own!

Tales and Scales

Grades Pre-K-2nd
Join us for a slithery story or maybe a scaly tale. Why do you think animals have inspired world cultures to create folktales, myths and oral traditions? Participate in an interactive storytelling about one of our fabulous animal friends and get a change to meet them up close!

Pattern Wizardry (NEW)

Grades 2nd–6th
Explore how patterns in nature have influenced cultures all over the world! Seashells, honeycombs, and snakeskin show us how natural patterns enhance animal and human existence. From clothing to music, we will discover the fascinating patterns in how we arrange our lives!

African Myths on the Move (NEW)

Journey with us! We will explore Africa’s cultural inspiration throughout the world. Discover African music, masks and myths as we visit exhibits showcasing artifacts from the Museum’s collection and make an African-inspired craft to take back to school!

Celebrate Carnival! (NEW)

Grades 2nd-6th
Explore the rich sights and sounds of the Caribbean!  Students explore the diversity of the Caribbean through a visit to World Brooklyn, an exhibition celebrating the borough's multiculturalism.  Students learn the magnificent traditions of the Caribbean while celebrating the diversity of these island nations. Embark on a journey with us as we discover Moko Jumbie stories, collection objects and Calypso music!

Grades 3rd-8th
Discover your world in Brooklyn! Students explore the diversity of New York City through a visit to World Brooklyn, an exhibition celebrating the borough’s multiculturalism. Learn about the cherished traditions passed down from generation to generation throughout Brooklyn communities. Participate in an interactive tour of “real” stores owned by immigrant families. Students will discover traditional art, food, music, dance, and celebrations of many cultures from around the world without leaving the city!
